GTA 6: Everything We Know Before November 19

WAIT

Grand Theft Auto VI is the most anticipated game of the decade. After 13 years since GTA V, Rockstar's next chapter finally has a locked release date: November 19, 2026. Here's everything confirmed so far — and what it means for your wallet.

PS5 / Xbox Series
PC Release

Setting
Leonida (Vice City)
Protagonists
Jason & Lucia
Price

WHAT WE KNOW

Take-Two Interactive confirmed the November 19 date during their fiscal year 2026 earnings call, projecting $8–8.2 billion in net bookings for the coming year — a figure that only makes sense if GTA 6 launches on schedule. CEO Strauss Zelnick called it the engine of "record levels of operating performance." When a publisher ties its revenue forecast to a specific date in an SEC filing, that date is real.

The game is set in Leonida, a fictional state inspired by Florida, with Vice City as its neon-soaked centerpiece. Players will control both Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos — the series' first female protagonist — in what Rockstar describes as the "biggest, most immersive evolution" of the franchise.

Two trailers have been released: the first in December 2023 (which broke YouTube view records) and the second in May 2025. Neither showed extended gameplay. Take-Two has confirmed that marketing will begin "this summer," making a major gameplay reveal during or around Summer Game Fest 2026 highly likely.

THE DELAY HISTORY

GTA 6 was originally targeting Fall 2025, then delayed to May 26, 2026, and finally pushed to November 19, 2026. Strauss Zelnick described the final date as "about 18 months behind the original." Rockstar apologized, citing the need to "deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve." Every Rockstar game has been delayed — Red Dead Redemption 2 was pushed three times — and every one has delivered.

WHAT ABOUT PC?

No PC release date has been announced. Rockstar is following the same console-first pattern as GTA V, which arrived on PC roughly 18 months after consoles (September 2013 → April 2015). If the pattern holds, expect GTA 6 on PC sometime in mid-to-late 2028. This means PC players are looking at a long wait — and console players will need a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S.

SHOULD YOU PRE-ORDER?

Pre-orders haven't opened yet, but they're expected soon — possibly timed to a gameplay reveal. Our advice: WAIT. There's no pre-order bonus worth committing $70+ before seeing real gameplay. The game isn't going to sell out digitally. Wait for reviews, wait for performance reports, and make an informed decision.

📌 THE BOTTOM LINE

GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. No PC date announced. Expect a gameplay reveal this summer. Don't pre-order until you've seen gameplay — there's no rush. This game will be everywhere.

THE CONTEXT

GTA V has sold 230 million copies. Red Dead Redemption 2 sold 85 million. GTA 6 is positioned to be the biggest entertainment launch in history — not just in gaming, but across all media. The wait has been excruciating, but November 19 is real. Mark your calendar.
