Best PS5 Games to Buy Right Now (April 2026)

Published April 18, 2026 · 8 min read · By The Manual

April 2026 is one of the most loaded months in PS5 history. Pragmata, Hades II, Saros, REPLACED, Mouse: P.I. For Hire, and Starfield's PS5 launch all dropped within weeks of each other — on top of February's Resident Evil Requiem. If you've got a PS5 and a budget, here's where to spend it first.

These are ranked by buy-now value (a mix of quality, current price, and how soon they'll discount), not just review scores.

Pragmata

BUY
Released April 17, 2026 · $69.99 · 10-12h

Capcom's first new IP in eight years and the easiest BUY of April 2026. Sitting at 96% Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam (the same numbers track on PSN). The hacking-meets-shooting combat hook is genuinely novel, the Hugh-Diana relationship lands emotionally, and the path-traced visuals on PS5 Pro are stunning.

GameSpot called it a GOTY contender. AltChar called it Capcom's second GOTY contender of 2026. There's no asterisk on this one.

Hades II

BUY
Released April 14, 2026 (PS5) · $29.99 · 60+ hours

The best-reviewed game of 2025 finally hit PS5 on April 14, 2026 with 120fps support and bonus content. At $29.99 for what's effectively a 60-100+ hour roguelike, this is the highest value-per-dollar pick on this list.

If you skipped the PC Early Access, this is the moment. If you played 65 hours in Early Access, the new content alone justifies replaying.

Resident Evil Requiem

BUY
Released February 27, 2026 · $69.99 · 10-12h

6 million units sold — fastest in Resident Evil history. The dual-protagonist structure (Grace Ashcroft for survival horror, Leon S. Kennedy for action) works because Capcom resisted the temptation to make both characters feel similar. Universal critical acclaim.

The launch hype is over and the verdict is settled — this is one of the strongest entries in the series.

Saros (Pre-Order)

BUY
Releases April 30, 2026 · $69.99 · PS5 Exclusive

Housemarque's spiritual successor to Returnal. Hands-on previews call it a GOTY contender, and the studio's track record (Returnal, Resogun, Nex Machina) is unblemished. Permanent progression and ~30-minute run length address Returnal's main complaints.

Review embargo lifts April 24 — six days before release. If you want maximum certainty, wait six days, read verdicts, then buy. If you trust Housemarque, pre-order.

Starfield (PS5 Edition)

WAIT
Released April 7, 2026 (PS5) · $69.99 + $9.99 DLC

The 2026 PS5 version with Free Lanes update and Terran Armada DLC is the best Starfield has ever been. If you've never played, this is your moment. If you bounced off in 2023, the core design hasn't fundamentally changed.

Bethesda games discount fast — expect 50% off by Black Friday. Buy now only if you specifically want the experience day one.

Mouse: P.I. For Hire

BUY
Released April 16, 2026 · $29.99 · 11-13h

Black-and-white rubber-hose animation meets Doom (2016) gunplay. Voice acted by Troy Baker. 95% Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam. One of the most stylistically distinct shooters in years.

At $30 with this much craft on display, it's a no-brainer for any FPS fan. The detective gameplay is shallow, but the gunplay carries it.

Astro Bot

BUY
Released 2024 · $59.99 · 10-15h · GOTY 2024

Game of the Year 2024 and still the best showcase for what the PS5 + DualSense combination can do. If you somehow missed it, it's still essential — over 50 planets of varied platforming, PlayStation history fan service, and DualSense haptics that nothing else has matched.

Routinely on sale for $40 or below. Required ownership if you have a PS5.

REPLACED

WAIT
Released April 14, 2026 · $24.99 · 11-12h

A 2.5D cyberpunk action platformer with stunning art and atmosphere — but mixed gameplay reception (79 Metacritic, 76% positive on Steam). Combat feel is divisive.

If the art alone sells you, buy. Otherwise wait for a $15 sale or play on Game Pass if you have an Xbox.

Final Thoughts

If we had to pick just one game for someone who only plays a few PS5 games per year: Pragmata. It's the rare AAA single-player release with no asterisks — a brand new IP that delivered on its ambition.

If we had to pick one for value: Hades II. $29.99 for hundreds of hours of the best roguelike ever made.

If we had to pick one for franchise fans: Resident Evil Requiem. The series is in its strongest form in years.
