Is the Analogue 3D Worth It for N64 Fans in 2026?

The Analogue 3D plays original N64 cartridges through FPGA hardware, producing a native 4K output with none of the emulation lag or accuracy compromises of software-based solutions. For players who already own a cartridge collection and want the cleanest possible picture on a modern TV, it's a genuinely excellent piece of hardware.

The Real Costs to Factor In

At $269.99 as of its most recent restock (Analogue cited tariff-related cost pressure for the price increase from its original $249.99), the Analogue 3D costs meaningfully more than a used original N64. It also doesn't include a controller — you'll need to separately buy the 8BitDo 64 controller built for it, adding to the total cost. Stock has also been inconsistent since launch, with restocks selling out quickly.
